Manuel de Leon Philippines by Armando del Moral


Mr. Manuel de Leon , was General 
Manager of L.V.N. Pictures, one of 
the largest film companies in the 
Philippines, has been consistently
awarded the "Famas," equivalent
of the Oscars@, for such films as
"Anak Dalita ," "Huck Sa Bangong
Pamanuhay, " " Higit Sa Lahat."
 Born in March , 1915 in San Miguel 
Bulacan. Attended High School and 
studied law at the University of the
Philippines.
  Before the war Acting Solicitor of 
the Bureau of the war served in the
army in Bataan and Corregidor. Post-
war he became Aide to the President,
Manuel Roxas.
  In 1949 was President of the Philippines
Motion Picture Producers Association.
 In April 1958 was Chariman of the 5th
Film Festival in Asia, held in Manila ,
which is sponsored annually be the Fe-
deration of Motion Picture Producers
Association in Asia , whose members
comprise: Hong Kong , Indonesia, Japan,
Rep. of Korea , Malaya, the Philippines,
Rep. of China and Thailand.
  Manuel de Leon was General Manager of L.V.N.
Pictures; Vice- President of the Federation 
of Motion Picture Producers of Asia ; Vice-
President of Republic Cement Company;
Member of Board of Directors of the follo-
wing: Security Bank, Universal Insurance 
Company, Philippine Woodcraft and Bataan
Pulp Company.
